MANILA, Philippines -- Aby Marano has been diagnosed with Psoriasis, a long-lasting autoimmune disease that causes raised, red, scaly patches to appear on the skin.

The former national team skipper announced the news on her Twitter account yesterday.

Accompanying the tweet is a photo of Marano with visible red patches on her arms and legs.

"Gulat ako level up na yung skin ko pangyamanin yung sakit, lakas makapulubi sa mahal ng gamot," Marano wrote.

Fans were quick to show support for the volleyball star with tweets and messages.

Marano tweeted a thank you message to everyone who had reached out to her.

"I'm okay. I'm alright," the tweet read.

"I am still capable of doing what I love, so this sickness can't put me down," Marano said.

The former DLSU Lady Spiker is currently seeing volleyball action for the F2 Logistics in the Philippine Super Liga, she might also be suiting up for the national team later this year.
