Arellano all out to deny Perpetual rare triple kill
MANILA, Philippines — It comes in threes.
Arellano University seeks to reign supreme for the third straight year while University of Perpetual Help guns to secure the lone silverware missing in its triple kill quest in the last of their best-of-three meeting in the NCAA season 94 women’s volleyball finals today.
Momentum is on the side of the Lady Chiefs who used their championship experience to the hilt in derailing the Lady Altas’ golden treble bid in Game Two, 23-25, 25-9, 25-18, 22-25, 15-12.
Only one trophy was lacking in UPHSD’s possible grand slam last Friday as its junior’s and men’s teams ruled their respective divisions, but AU championed its own cause and held on to the throne after ceding the series opener, 25-21, 17-25, 21-25, 20-25.
Game time is at 4 p.m. at the Filoil Flying V Center.
“We just need to remind the players of our dream this season which is to get the three-peat for the school. I always remind them to not waste what we worked hard for,” said AU coach Obet Javier.
Meanwhile, the Lady Altas will try to make the most out of their last shot at a rare triple crown though they know it won’t be easy.
“I don’t want the players to think that the victory would come easy because Arellano is the defending champion. All we have to do is prepare and give our best,” said UPHSD coach Macky Cariño.
