Altas gun for sweep of 3 NCAA crowns

MANILA, Philippines — Perpetual Help seeks a date with history as it aims for a rare triple kill in the 94th NCAA volleyball at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The Las Piñas-based school will need to beat Arellano University in the women’s finals, St. Benilde in the men’s and Letran in the juniors.

Of the three, it was the Lady Altas who came through the biggest as they shocked the Lady Chiefs, the defending champions, in a 21-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-20 win last week.

The fancied Altas, the reigning men’s titlists, had to fend off the Blazers’ upset try before escaping with a 23-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 15-12 triumph.
