Melissa Gohing prioritizes Creamline stint in PVL
MANILA, Philippines – Despite an invite to the recently concluded Philippine women's national volleyball team tryouts, Creamline Cool Smashers libero Melissa Gohing plans to forgo any international stint this year.
Initially missing the tryouts due to a prior commitment, the former Lady Spiker revealed that she wanted to put more of her efforts in her Premier Volleyball League career.
"Mas nagfofocus ako ngayon sa pro team ko which is Creamline," she said in an interview with Philstar.com.
It was an eventful 2018 for the Cool Smashers, with two championships mellowed by the bittersweet departure of head coach Tai Bundit.
"We miss Coach Tai. We're hoping he might change his mind and come back," Gohing admitted.
But the four-time UAAP champion says the team is just focusing on moving forward.
"We're just thankful for what we have now and we're going to maximize it in order to win the next championship" she said.
Gohing may be missing out on the Philippine team this year, but she isn't exactly closing any doors to suit up for flag and country once again.
"If may opportunity [ulit] for the Philippine team, then I'll do it... Iba yung feeling pag nagrerepresent ka ng bansa mo" she said.
Gohing had previously suited up for the national team during last year's Asian Women's Volleyball Cup and back in 2015 in the Asian Women's Championship.
