World Slasher Cup draws slew of local, foreign aficionados
MANILA, Philippines — Thousands of visitors including aficionados from abroad witnessed the first and second day of world class cockfighting at the Big Dome, said Pitgames Media CEO Manny Berbano.
After today’s battle, competitors advance to the 3-cock semifinals (Jan. 31, Feb. 1 and 2); 4-cock finals for those with 2 to 3.5 points (Feb. 3 and 4) and 4-cock grand finals for 4, 4.5 and 5 points (Feb. 6).
Those with two wins in the opening round last Monday: Tady Palma and Nestor Vendivil (two entries each), Raymond Velayo/Lito Cay, Dante Eslabon, Jun Bacolod, Escolin Brothers, Buddy Puertas, Jervy Maglunob/Noel Cosico, GPE group, Alex Aguirre, Jojo Gatlabayan/Rey Directo. Dupher Villalon/Pros Antonio, Gov. Claude Bautista, Ryan Esteban/PTM, Ricky Magtuto/Willard Ty, Ador Pleyto, Arnold Arenas, A. Bernos and Jeffrey/Aylwyn Sy.
Defending champion Patrick Antonio tallied 1.5 points together with Butch Cambra of Hawaii, Osang dela Cruz/RS, Rey Directo, Rommel Buensuceso, Vic Santos and Richard Perez.
Elmer Stoka of Guam scored an impressive win and one reset fight while Carlos Camacho and George Goitia of California, Rene Peñalosa of Australia, Wilbert Le Blanc and Richard Harris of Louisiana have one point each.
Spearheaded by Pintakasi of Champions, the WSC 1 is also supported by Thunderbird, Emperador and Powertrac.
Audiences, meanwhile, may win various merchandise from Thunderbird and Emperador’s booth at the Green Gate lobby. Powertrac is raffling off a 32-inch LED TV daily until Feb 6.
