Cebu, Philippines – The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) tips-off its activities for the 2019 multi 3x3 tournaments at the Sisters of Mary Boys’ and Girls’ Towns in Cebu and it promises to be a big event.

“This coming January 12 and 13, the SBP, together with Chooks-to-Go, is holding the biggest 3x3 event in the country when participants from the Cebu Boys’ and Girls’ Town simultaneously compete in 50 courts,” said federation Executive Director Renauld “Sonny” Barrios.

“It is a massive undertaking and we will not be able to pull this off without the help of Regional Director Rico Navarro of Region 7, and Jerry Abubayor, Regional Director for Region 6, as well as the support of the Sisters of Mary nuns who operate the Boys’ and Girls’ Towns.” Barrios added.

“This is the first Fiba-like event that will be held in Cebu and people are very excited. As of now, kahit mga 3,100 participants na, marami pa tumatawag kung puwede sumali. Kahit siguradong traffic, people will go not only to participate, but also to watch.” said Cebu native Ryan Betia, who is part of the SBP’s Coaches Commission and was a former assistant in the Gilas program

“When you hear Cebuanos talk about this SBP 3x3 event, they are honored because the federation chose to hold this in our area,” glowed a proud Betia. “We, of course, have to thank Chooks to Go, SBP President Al Panlilio, and Sir Sonny Barrios for making all this possible.”

The games will be held at the Boys’ Town on January 12 and at the Girls’ Town on January 13.
