MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila Turf Club (Metro Turf) has advised the Philippine Racing Commission it is temporarily suspending all racing activities at its Malvar, Batangas racing complex starting Jan. 1 due to huge losses from its operations.
Metro Turf chairman Norberto Quisumbing Jr. conveyed the information in a formal letter to Philracom recently, attributing Metro Turf’s declining sales to various factors, including competition posed by illegal online sabong operation and the high racing taxes.
Quisumbing said Metro Turf’s temporary suspension of racing activities will run for a period of three months.
