Back to work for Generika after stunning win over F2 Logistics
MANILA, Philippines – Generika-Ayala posted a massive four-set conquest of F2 Logistics in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
But instead of celebrating, the Lifesavers are back in the gym, looking for another victory that would get their streak going.
“The win over F2 only shows that we can win if our offense will click,” said Generika-Ayala coach Sherwin Meneses the morning after hammering an earth-shaking 19-25, 25-22, 25-16, 28-26 win over the Cargo Movers.
“Our morale is high. We will work harder to get another victory against Sta. Lucia on Thursday. This is just the start. We will not be contended with that victory.”
True enough, the Lifesavers are unstoppable once their offense is in full throttle.
With Patty Orendain catching fire, Generika-Ayala came up with an elite performance capable of giving other heavyweights like undefeated Petron and Foton a run for their money.
Orendain finished with 18 points while the rest of the Lifesavers starting unit like Angeli Araneta, Mika Lopez, Fiola Ceballos and Marivic Meneses all emerged with double digits.
Of course, prized libero Kath Arado did her thing at the defensive end as she outshone national team stalwart Dawn Macandili with 41 digs.
Meneses said two of their previous losses were via a five-set decision so it is only fitting that they are now starting to wax hot.
“We don’t have problem with our defense. Our only concern is our offense since our spikers are quite small,” he said.
“But I believe in my players. I know they are also capable of playing at a higher level at any given time. We just have to be patient and continue working hard.”
“I believe we’re on the right track.”
