Romyl Jornacion triple lifts Spartans vs Rising Stars

MANILA, Philippines — Romyl Jornacion scored 13 points, including the game-winning triple with 10 seconds left as the Rizal Spartans beat the Quezon City Rising Stars, 70-67, in the National Basketball League (NBL) at the Antipolo Sports Hub over the weekend.

Bernard Repato topscored for Rizal with 15 points, while Benjie Jimenez had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Nomar Isla-coached squad, which actually lost its first three games in the league for homegrown talents.

Nikko Lao shot 11 points, while Mark Puspus finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks for Quezon City, which fell to 1-2.

In the other match, Ferdie Limin scored 15 points as the Marikina Shoemakers pulled off an 82-75 win over the Parañaque Aces for a 2-2 card. The Aces dropped to 0-3.

The Laguna Pistons, meanwhile, beat the Dasmariñas Ballers, 87-82, last Sunday at the Hagonoy Sports Complex in Taguig City behind 22-point effort of King Fadriquela. The Pistons improved to 4-1 while dealing the Ballers their third loss against a win.
