MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine wing of World Natural Bodybuilding Federation is hitting two birds with one stone.

Ahead of its competition this October, the WNBF continues to put a premium on promoting a fair, drug-free platform for athletes.

“All overall winners, as well as random athletes, undergo a urine test to ensure there are no banned substances apparent in their system,” WBNF Philippines vice president Chris Byrne said in a statement.

“Any athlete who fails the test faces a ban from the federation for seven years — a much more stringent penalty than that of thy Olympics,” he added.

The WNBF hopes it could ride on the momentum from its previous competition last June as they brace for another on October 27 at Johny B. Good in Makati.

The event was graced by the presidents of Chinese, Korean and Mongolian bodybuilding federations.

“They all exclaimed that they need to step up their own competitions as the WNBF Philippines was over-the-top both competitive and entertaining,” the statement added.
