Revellers crush Titans, regain PBA D-L lead
MANILA, Philippines — Jeff Viernes exploded for 35 points as Che’Lu Bar and Grill clobbered winless AMA Online Education, 139-101, to wrest the solo lead in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig yesterday.
The Revellers stormed to a 60-42 lead at halftime and never let up to rebound from a previous setback, notch their sixth win in eight outings and break off a tie with Go for Gold (5-2).
Earlier, Centro Escolar University fended off a late chase by Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College to carve out an 84-75 victory and join Marinero at 4-3.
Viernes spiked his big game with seven treys and finished with four assists and three steals to pace Che’Lu Bar and Grill which quickly picked itself up from a 83-91 loss to Marinerong Pilipino that halted the Revellers’ five-game win streak last Monday.
But Che’Lu Bar and Grill coach Stevenson Tiu rued his wards’ attitude toward the game despite the 38-point blowout victory that kept the also-ran Titans winless in eight games.
