Alberto makes impression in Euro superstock

MANILA, Philippines — Top Filipino Superbike racer TJ Alberto bucked tough conditions and the tough field and turned in an impressive finish in the fifth leg of the European SuperStock 1000 Championships at the Automotodrom Brno, Czech Republic recently.

Alberto dished out top form with his Ducati Panigale 1199R and surprised fans and commentators alike with an 11th place finish among the 22-rider grid featuring top international superbike races in the Czech Acerbis round of the World Superbike Weekend in Brno.

He thus became the first Filipino to again qualify and compete in the Euro SuperStock 1000 2018 Championships.  

Starting from 16th place on the grid, the Pinoy Superbiker pushed hard in pouring rain and slippery track condition and against a crack field of experienced racers, landing an 11th place effort and earning points in his rookie season.

Alberto primed up for the highly competitive European Superstock 1000 Championships by competing in the Campionato Italiano Velocita (CIV), a higher skill level equivalent to the Philippine Superbike Championships where he started racing. 

Alberto is currently riding for M. Motocorsa Racing Team, a highly regarded Italian Superbike championship team owned by Lorenzo Mauri who recognized Alberto’s riding skills and gave him a break in racing in the Italian Championships and eventually the European SuperStock 1000 Championships. 

Alberto has been racing all around Europe from legendary race tracks of Aragon, Assen, Imola, Donington and Brno, carrying  the country’s colors in pursuit of international glory, including a spot in Superbike Racing.

He will next see action on July 8 for the sixth leg of the European SuperStock1000 Championships at the Simoncelli World Circuit Misano in Italy.
