MANILA, Philippines — As part of its efforts to empower outdoor sporting communities across borders, The North Face is more than thrilled to announce its recently forged partnership with the Philippine National Climbing Team.

To officially establish its role as a key sponsor for the national team for climbing, an exclusive media event was held on June 13 at the R.O.X. Bonifacio High Street at Taguig's Bonifacio Global City. Guests were able to meet the athletes vying to represent the country at the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics, as well as witness the official awarding of the Certificate of Partnership.

Forging world-class athletes

The North Face Philippines shared the motivation behind the brand’s commitment to support the country’s national climbing team.

For one, the pressure is at its peak for the national climbing since only three representatives from Asia can qualify for a spot at the Olympics. In equipping the Philippine team with the most cutting-edge gear and equipment, The North Face seeks to empower the team in their journey to the Olympics and in the process, spark hope among young athletes who are aspiring for international athletics.

The partnership is also expected to promote the growth of sport climbing in the Philippines, as well as develop more outdoor climbing areas throughout the country.

Backed by the Sport Climbing Association of the Philippines, a non-stock, non-profit association dedicated to the promotion of sport climbing in the country, the 15 daring Filipino athletes in the national team have spent the last few years gaining experience competing and excelling in competitions both here and abroad.

Under the guidance of coaches Miel Pahati and Jao Sauco, both of whom are former athletes of the national team, the athletes are emboldened to make their mark in the global climbing scene at the upcoming Olympic Games.

Gearing up for the Olympics

As the upcoming Tokyo Olympics marks a milestone as the first-ever host of the Rock Climbing category, it is essential for all competing Filipino athletes to be decked out in apparel, gear and equipment that will enhance and improve their overall performance.

To make this happen, The North Face rolled out the “No Days Off” campaign that advocates a no-excuses attitude when it comes to training. The campaign introduces a series of collections that will enable outdoor explorers to move without restriction in any time and any given environment.

Designed to withstand the most grueling outdoor training programs, the all-new Terra Metro Series features a selection of outdoor training clothes that combine high-tech performance, innovative materials and pioneering aesthetics. The collection includes the Terra Metro Supa Stretch Jacket and the Terra Metro Lite Tights, which are made with elastic woven knitted fabric with Lycra yarn.

Conceived with the idea of combining lightness and superior protection, the brand also unlocked the Flight Series, the most advanced running apparel collection yet. It carries Men’s Flight RKT jacket, Flight Better Than Naked T-Shirt, and the Flight Better Than Naked Shorts for both men and women.

Apart from apparel, there are also footwear and accessories that are equally meant to live up to harshest training sessions. The Ultra Endurance II is a series of versatile trail running shoes that will deliver stable rides and unparalleled traction thanks to its TPU toe tip, Vibram Megagrip, Xtrafoam and Fastfoam features.

To top it all off, the brand is offering outdoor training accessories that prove essential to the most committed outdoor athlete’s training attire. These include the Flight Race backpacks, Better Than Naked hat and visor, head wear, protective sleeve, and trail running compression socks.

Whether to be used in training for the Olympics or for conquering one’s personal athletic limits, the newly-launched outdoor training and trail running collections by The North Face will surely boost performance and allow for utmost freedom of movement, anytime and anywhere.
