PBA, Gilas, Perlas stars get first dibs on LeBron James' 'Agimat' sneakers
MANILA, Philippines – "It's like representing the Philippines."
That's how LA Tenorio -- a three-time PBA champion, a many-time member of the national team and a second-time wearer of LeBron James' "Agimat" sneakers -- put it.
Tenorio was joined by former PBA Rookie of the Year Chris Newsome, fellow ex-Gilas trooper Paul Lee, and two-time Asia's best point guard Jayson Castro last week at the Titan Hypercourt in Bonifacio Global City in an exclusive trial run with members of the press of the Soldier XII -- the Cavalier's second signature shoe to get the all-Filipino treatment.
PhilStar Sports interviewed the cagers themselves and asked about their initial thoughts of the shoe which releases on Friday, Jun 15.
Gilas and Perlas players Troy Rosario, Stanley Pringle, Jack Danielle Animam and Gemma Miranda also saw action in the blue-gold pair that touts minute details emblematic of both Filipino culture and the many facets of James' game. Check out these snaps off the FIBA 3x3 World Cup:
And while we're at it, let's revisit all of James' shoes that underwent the full "Pinas" treatment.
The performance sneaker will retail at the P6,745 and will hit Nike's shelves at The Fort, Glorietta, Mall of Asia, Trinoma, and Titan shops. — Denison Rey A. Dalupang
