LOOK: Top 10 highest-paid athletes in 2017
MANILA — Forbes on Wednesday bared its list of highest-paid athletes for 2017.
Boxing megastar Floyd Mayweather Jr. reclaimed the top spot, marking the fourth time he held the lead in the last seven years.
The undefeated boxer unseated football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who held the crown for two years.
Basketball is in the spotlight thanks to its most recognizable star in LeBron James, who placed six.
But the most stunning bit? Not a single woman made the full list. Tennis queen Serena Williams wasn’t able to make the cut after placing 51st in the previous iteration of the list.
Filipino Manny Pacquiao wasn’t able to make the list for the second straight year. He last made the list in 2016 where he was the 63rd top-paid athlete. The year before that, he trailed Mayweather, who then topped the list. — Denison Rey A. Dalupang; Jonathan Asuncion, PhilStar.com
