New LeBron James 'Agimat' shoes to hit Philippine market
MANILA, Philippines — Cleveland Cavaliers star forward LeBron James’ shoe line is set to get another “Agimat” treatment.
Filipinos will be given the chance to get their hands on the newest addition to James’ Philippines-inspired kicks when the Nike LeBron Soldier 12 hits the shelves this June 15.
Last year’s release featured the James’ primary line — the LeBron 14 — to receive the “Agimat” treatment. Players of the Philippine men’s basketball team were first to receive pairs which were dominantly in blue and were adorned with Filipino symbolisms. Gilas players went on to use it for their international battles.
This year’s “Agimat” drop features a simplified strap, lower collar, and circular knit upper that, according to Nike designer Jason Petrie, is emblematic of Filipinos’ toughness.
The upcoming drop reprises the “Mula Mandirigma Sa Mandirigma” which was present in the 2017 iteration. It also bears the usual “MNL” inscriptions, a small icon representing the country’s many volcanoes, a set of stars, and a silhouette of a mountain representing the archipelago’s terrains — all of which representative of the many facets of James’ game. The words "Para Sa Kadakilaan" also makes an encore.
The Solder 12 “Agimat” will roll out via select Philippine shops at a P6,745 price tag.
