After an elbow to the mouth, Tiu gets even with a dagger three and the win
MANILA, Philippines — Chris Tiu personified sports’ old adage “bloodied but unbowed” in Sunday night’s PBA action.?
After being taken down by an elbow to the face, the Rain or Shine guard, after taking a rest on the bench, made sure that GlobalPort paid dearly.

Gashed mouth and all, Tiu, after replacing an ejected Maverick Ahanmisi, hit a dagger three that altered the complexion of their ill-tempered affair with the Batang Pier.
That basket extended the Painters’ lead to nine with 1:14 left on the clock and afforded them a cushion as the game expired.

“The nice thing about Chris, instead of going to the doctor, he still [insisted] to play,” Rain or Shine head coach Caloy Garcia said. “So nung nathrown out si (Maverick) Ahanmisi, he came in. He was able to deliver.”
“[G]oing to the hospital would not give me a chance to get back at him or them, with the way they played,” Tiu told the press after the game. “I think the best way (of getting even) was just to win the game.”
Admitting that he was incensed after the hit, Tiu said offered that it was only normal as he felt that Batang Pier import Malcolm White’s action was premeditated.
“Syempre sino ba hindi magagalit sa [ganoong] action ‘di ba? It was clearly intentional. It's been very rough the entire game, unfortunately, I didn't see it at all and he got me clean,” he said.
“It's been the worst, the hardest hit I've ever gotten in my basketball career. I lost consciousness maybe two seconds ano, parang nasapak ako ni (Manny) Pacquiao,” he added.
For his part, White explained that he was merely taking a stance to prepare for a rebound.
“I didn't do that purposely. You know, it was just the motion of my arm. I was just boxing out and somebody was there. I guess, he was right there by my arm,” he said. “I didn't even know I did it until [Chris Tiu] came back and I'd seen the blood.”
“The first thing I checked was my tooth if it was still there,” Tiu shared. “Malayo naman sa bituka eh. I'm just happy na hindi natanggal ngipin ko or nabasag ilong ko. It's more of the gum, I have to get it stitched up right after this.”
Tiu finished the game with 10 points, six assists and four rebounds and a feeling of satisfaction after earning their fifth win in sixth outings—the best in the league this conference.
