Leonardo-Morada duo wins Prima Pasta mixed doubles
MANILA, Philippines — Alyssa Leonardo and Alvin Morada thumped Peter Magnaye and Thea Pomar, 21-16, 21-13, to claim the mixed doubles open crown of the 11th Prima Pasta Badminton Championship at Powersmash in Makati recently.
Mike Minuluan and Aires Montilla defeated John Bernardo and Gelita Castilo, 21-16, 21-18, to win the mixed doubles level A title while Jennifer Cayetano and Jan Sotea swept Andrea Abalos and Gregg Paz, 21-7, 21-17, to clinch the mixed doubles level B plum.
Zyrish Camba and Nepthali Pineda rallied past David Libanan and Jeya Pinlac, 17-21, 21-13, 21-19, to snare the mixed doubles level C diadem while Lea Hermosilla and Arjay Lazareto repulsed Marlon Cruz and Betina Felipe, 21-19, 12-21, 21-7, to grab the mixed doubles level D plum.
Other mixed doubles champions were Mark Mortera and Stephanie Mortera (level E); Marineth Ngo and Mark Resurrecion (level F); and Emmanuel Rodriguez and Gabrielle Santos (level G).
Oscar Cordero and Rommel Parone, meanwhile, took the combined age 100 event crown.
Leading the winners in the girls’ doubles were Anielka Paz and Angel Valle (U-15); Anthea Gonzalez and Dana Navarro (U-17); and Jellene De Vera and Dainelle Masongsong (U-19) while the boys’ doubles champions were Munir Bartolome and Rey Pedron (U-15); Ron Galve and Arjay Lazareto (U-17); and Jeno Carino and Nestojan Tapales (U-17).
