Tacloban Fighting Warays join PVL

MANILA, Philippines – The Premier Volleyball League has accepted the Tacloban Fighting Warays as its new team in the season-opening Reinforced Conference this May.

Tacloban coach Nes Pamilar, formerly of the Power Smashers, said the team is managed by Mel Macasaet and will be spearheaded by Jovielyn Prado, Regine Anne Arocha and Mary Anne Esguerra of reigning NCAA champion Arellano University.

Pamilar said they are also eyeing Shola Alvarez, a former Jose Rizal University star who was adjudged as the Season 93 MVP and whose contract with Pocari Sweat has expired last year, to further beef up the Fighting Warays’ roster.

San Sebastian’s Vira May Guillema, University of the East’s Judith Abil and Far Eastern University’s Kyle Negrito will also shore up Tacloban’s lineup.

The other members of the team are Jan Eunice Galang, Seth Rodriguez and Bangladesh Pantaleon.

Pamilar said they’re fielding in Thai legend Patcharee Sangmuang to suit up this conference.

An Alyssa Valdez-led Creamline, a Mylo Pablo-paced Pocari-Air Force, Bali Pure, BanKo-Perlas and Petro Gazz Angels are among the clubs seeing action this coming PVL season.
