Cargo Movers aim for 3rd win vs Sta. Lucia Realty belles
MANILA, Philippines — F2 Logistics faces Sta. Lucia Realty today, looking for its third win in four games and a continued hold of second spot in the Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the Imus Sports Center in Cavite.
Action starts at 7 p.m. with the Cargo Movers slighty favored over the Lady Realtors who have split their first four games in the tournament sponsored by Isuzu, UCPB Gen and Rebisco with ESPN5 as official broadcast partner.
Generika-Ayala and Smart, meanwhile, clash in a duel of winless teams at 4:15 p.m.
Powerhouse Petron is way out in front with a 6-0 slate with F2 Logistics hoping to close in a bit with a victory against Sta. Lucia.
After opening their title-retention campaign with a victory, the Cargo Movers bowed to the Blaze Spikers in four sets in a rematch of the finals showdown last year.
But F2 Logistics has recovered with a win over Smart and its explosive import in Gyselle Silva, making them the slight picks over the Realtors.
Silva, the hard-hitting former Cuban national team player, was limited to her lowest scoring output of 17 points as Aby Maraño, Kennedy Bryan, Lourdes Clemente and reigning MVP Maria Jose Perez took turns in slowing her down with superb blocking.
“We forced her out of her comfort zone, which was a major part of our game plan,” said F2 Logistics head coach Arnold Laniog, adding that employing that kind of airtight defense against a team like Sta. Lucia will be easier said than done.
“We know that Sta. Lucia is a veteran team with a lot of weapons. As much as possible, we want to be at our best not only defensively, but also offensively, when we play against them. We will be ready – that’s for sure.”
