Tuason Racing to hold Formula VI series
MANILA, Philippines — The Tuason Racing School will put up the Formulas V1 Challenge in May as part of its commitment to help produce world-class Filipino race car drivers.
TRS president JP Tuason said the new car racing series will serve as a training venue for the current crop of local drivers seeking to bring their skills to the next level.
Formula V1 is an open cockpit single seater race car made in partnership between TRS and West Cars Japan. It will be a cost effective series since some of the components are Philippine made. There are also plans to expand the series to other Asian countries.
“There have been several successful grassroots racing events in the country but our young graduate Filipino racers were left with limited options to further advance their racing careers,” said Tuason. “We believe that Formula V1 Asia is the next step in trying to rebuild Philippine Motorsports since our homegrown racers need not go abroad to step up and hone their skills in Formula racing.”
“With this cost effective program, we believe Filipino drivers will gain the needed experience and confidence to be ready for international formula racing competitions. With that vision, we hope to see more top Filipino champion drivers soon in world class car racing events and ultimately in the Formula One Championship,” he added.
