MANILA, Philippines -- Brian Viloria lost in a lopsided manner to a much younger Artem Dalakian or Ukraine and failed to capture another world title Sunday at the The Forum in Inglewood, California.
All three judges scored the bout 118-110 for the 30-year-old Dalakian, whose dominant performance netted him the vacant WBA flyweight title.
Viloria, 37, was outworked most of the fight. But the former junior flyweight and flyweight titlist managed to go the distance despite suffering a nasty cut on the forehead in the 11th round when Dalakian accidentally hit him with an elbow.
It is the sixth career loss for Viloria, who has won 38 bouts (with 23 knockouts). "The Hawaiian Punch" entered the fight looking to rejuvenate his career and win his fifth world title.
Now, retirement looks like the soundest option for Viloria.
Dalakian, meanwhile, stayed unbeaten in 15 fights (with 11 KOs).
