Sta Lucia story

MANILA, Philippines — Sta. Lucia Realty is allotting an ample time to develop its chemistry before the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix fires off on Feb. 17.
According to head coach George Pascua, they will take advantage of their team building this weekend to get to know one another and develop the chemistry and cohesiveness they badly need.
The Lady Realtors are a young team looking for fluidity.
They barged into the league under Sammy Acaylar before his trusted deputy in Michael Carino took over in the All-Filipino Conference last year.
Carino, however, gave way for Jerry Yee in the Grand Prix, but the former University of the Philippines (UP) head coach quickly packed his bags shortly after the conference to join a new team in the Premier Volleyball League.
With Yee out, the Lady Realtors wasted no time in securing the services of one of the country’s best young coaches – Pascua.
““Being the head coaching role (of Sta. Lucia) is a major challenge,” said Pascua shortly after being appointed as Lady Realtors’ mentor.
“I’m here to instill a fighting mentality and a winning culture to a young club. I promise to do my best and rally the team to an impressive finish in the Grand Prix.”
Pascua, who steered Petron to a historic sweep of the All-Filipino Conference three years ago, emphasized that he will preach the gospel of camaraderie and unity in Sta. Lucia.
He said he is looking forward to know Filipino-American spiker Mar-Jana Philips, Rebecca Rivera, Pam Lastimosa, Micmic Laborte and Jonah Sabete up close and more personal as well as Ukrainian import Dana Anisova and Canadians Kristen Moncks and Marisa Field.
Mocks and Field will be arriving on Wednesday.
“Of course, knowing them on the court is very different than knowing them personally,” he said.
“That’s why I want to take advantage of our team building on Saturday. I want to know and be friends with my players."
"Volleyball is a team game and the friendship and unity off that you will develop with your teammates off the court will definitely translate into something positive inside the court.”
