'Standhardinger' trade between Kia and SMB to push through
BOCAUE, Bulacan — The PBA on Friday has given the green light to the trade between Kia Picanto and San Miguel Beer.
Commissioner Chito Narvasa held a presser prior the tip-off of the Governors’ Cup Finals Game Seven, sharing how Kia was actually approached by many teams for their first overall pick in Sunday's PBA Draft before San Miguel came into the picture.
Narvasa, who assumed office in August 2015, bared that the swap was approved around 3 p.m. Friday.

Kia, which is projected to pick Filipino-German big man Christian Standhardinger, will be sending the Gilas trooper to San Miguel for Rashawn McCarthy, Jay-R Reyes, Ronald Tubid and the first-round draft pick in 2019.
Narvasa added that he initially did not approve of the trade, citing the personalities involved initial pitch.
Tubid, as it turned out, proved to be the clincher of the deal.

According to PBA stats chief Fidel Mangonon III, this is the fourth time in the last six years that the top draft pick will not be sent to the team that originally earned it.
Three of the four overall choices ended up with on the SMC side—twice with San Miguel. The MVP group, on the other hand, was able to snare one.
The 2017 PBA Draft will be held at the Robinson’s Place in Ermita, Manila.
Standhardinger and homegrown prospect Kiefer Ravena are expected to go first and second in the draft.
