MANILA, Philippines — With Jeron Teng struggling on the offensive end for Flying V, it was Gab Banal who picked up the slack in both ends of the floor as the Thunder eked out a 107-96 win over Wangs Basketball Tuesday.

Banal poured in 29 points and 11 rebounds and did most of the damage in the Thunder's third-quarter spark that helped them pull the game away for good.

"Everyone was collapsing on Jeron," told Banal. "He was passing the ball and nagkataon lang na ako yung open doon."

The ex-Globalport player also shut down Wangs' Robert Herndon, limiting him to just four points since his 20-point outburst in the first half.

"I'm willing to do everything, whatever it takes to help the team win. So i have to put an effort to stop him (Herndon)," Banal said.

Flying V will next face the Koy Banal-mentored Marinerong Pilipino, Gab's uncle.

"I'll just treat Marinero as a normal team. If I take it personally, I'll just lose focus," said Banal.

Joel Banal, Gab's father, is also the assistant coach of Marinero. - Randell Angelo B. Ritumalta
