Horn welcomes Manny’s quick win bid
MANILA, Philippines - It has been reported the past days that Manny Pacquiao is looking to dispose of Jeff Horn quickly when they lock horns this July.
The message has been clear so far: Pacquiao sees Horn as an intermission number, a prelude to a much-bigger fight at the end of the year.
And Horn, for his part, wants it to stay that way.
In a report by the New Zealand Herald, the 29-year-old Horn said he welcomes the fact that Pacquiao seems to be underestimating him, hinting that it could be the cause of the Filipino icon’s downfall.
“Pacquiao and his managers sound a bit confident and cocky,” he said.
“It’s like ‘we will just take this fight, come to Brisbane, knock over Jeff Horn, make their millions and go do the (Amir) Khan fight,’” added Horn, referring to the statement from Pacquiao’s camp claiming the fighting senator plans to get rid of Horn as quickly as possible.
After confirming last week that his client has signed on to fight Horn, Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz said they’re looking for a quick win over the Australian.
Koncz added that they’re focusing on a more lucrative fight against Amir Khan – Pacquiao’s preference – in November.
Horn, meanwhile, has no issue with it.
“I hope he keeps feeling that way,” said Horn, who is looking to score a mammoth upset against the heavily favored Pacquiao.
And if Horn indeed pulls it off, it will be one of the biggest sports upsets in recent memory. – Dino Maragay/Philstar.com
