MANILA, Philippines - The Creamline Cool Smashers have tapped the services of former Oregon State player Laura Schaudt as its reinforcement in the Premier Volleyball League’s season-opening Reinforced Conference on April 30 at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
Alyssa Valdez, who played for 3BB Nakornnont as Thailand League’s first Filipino import and the spearhead of the league’s newest team, welcomed Schaudt’s entry, saying the 6-5 spiker who plays both middle and opposite positions will greatly help the team’s title drive.
“She will be a big addition to our team and we hope we’ll do good this coming PVL conference,” said Creamline team manager Sherwin Malonzo.
Aside from Valdez and Schaudt, other Creamline members are Perpetual Help’s Coleen Bravo, San Beda’s Francesca Racraquin, Navy’s Pau Soriano and comebacking Joyce Palad of University of the Phl, Ivy Remulla of La Salle and Aerieal Patnongon of Ateneo.
Also part of the team are Adamson’s Janet Serafica and Perpetual Help’s Jamela Suyat.
The Cool Smashers, owned by the same Rebisco company backing up the Ateneo men’s and women’s teams in the UAAP, will be handled by Thai Tai Bundit with Oliver Almandro as assistant.
Schaudt played for five years with Oregon State, which reached the Sweet 16 phase in the US NCAA Division I three years ago.
