MANILA, Philippines - Reigning titlist Jonathan Tiu of JCT Racing and Aaron Lao ruled their respective events to share top honors in the second leg of the National Drag Racing Championships Northern Series at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga recently.
Tiu pulled off a twinkill as he topped the Quick 8 class for the second straight time then captured the M&H Super Pro title while Lao dominated the premier M&H Pro division of the series sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by M&H, Aguila Auto Glass and Sparco.
The event drew another huge field of 234 with drag racing director Fil Gulfin forced to extend the race late into the night.
Weather and track conditions, however, slowed down the field with Tiu, on his Nissan R35, posting a 9.41-second clocking in clinching the Quick 8 crown over Jose Luis Yulo of the Angeles City Hot Rod Association (AHRA)-Garage Power, who checked in at 11.835 seconds.
