Vios Cup revs up for bigger 4th season
MANILA, Philippines - The Toyota Vios Cup, the lone one-make race in the country today, gears up for a more exciting fourth season next month with additional races and more celebrity guest drivers participating at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
Toyota Motor Phl. president Satoru Suzuki graced the launching of the event that will feature four rounds set April 28-29 in Clark Field.
“We’re confident and hopeful that the Vios Cup will further develop and promote motoring in the Philippines,” said Suzuki during the event launch at the Pampas Latino Bistro at the Uptown BGC in Taguig City the other night.
The next race will be held June 10-11, also in Clark, while the third is set from Sept. 15-16 at a still unspecified venue.
The fourth and final round will return to Clark on Nov. 10-11.
Some celebrity drivers, headed by Aubrey Miles and Gretchen Ho, who will undergo training with the Tuason Racing School, will spice up the race.
Competitors will race in four divisions, the promotional class for beginners, sporting class for drivers with Club C Believe it or not, two players, who were sacked by the PBA for misbehavior, encouraged Blackwater import Greg Smith to play in the pro league which they described as competitive and physical, leading the 6-8 3/8 center from Fresno State to sign up for the Commissioner’s Cup starting tomorrow. or National C license and the super sporting class for racers with Club, National C and B license.
The champion of the super sporting class will drive home a brand-new Vios 1.5 G-M/T while the second and third placers will receive P200,000 and 100,000, respectively.
The prize list for the top three sporting class winners are P150,000 for first and P100,000 and P50,000 for second and third, respectively, while the top three finishers in the Rota Promotional Class will get trophies and a chance to get promoted in the sporting class next year.
