Hawkeyes press semis drive against Bombers

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Cignal-San Beda, already assured of the quarterfinals, sets its sights on one of the two outright semifinal berths as it clashes with Jose Rizal College today in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig today.

On a hot six-game streak after an opening game setback, the Hawkeyes are suddenly on top of the 10-team field, clinching a spot in the quarters with an 83-68 romp over the Victoria Sports side last Tuesday.

Like the Hawkeyes, the Bombers are also coming off a morale-boosting 77-75 win over the erstwhile unbeaten Racal Tile Masters with coach Vergel Meneses confident of their bid to pull off another reversal.

Meanwhile, Wangs Basketball (2-5) and also-ran Blustar Detergent (0-6) tangle at 3 p.m.
