Alyssa Valdez's Thai debut delayed

Alyssa Valdez

MANILA, Philippines – Alyssa Valdez got her International Transfer Certificate in time for her team's 3BB Nakornnont game in the Thai League but did not suit up Sunday, postponing her date with history as the first Phl player to ever play in Thailand as an import.

After a little delay, Valdez, the country's flag-bearer in the Singapore Southeast Asian Games two years ago and the best player in the land today, received her ITC, which is a license required for player seeing action in another country, just minutes before her much awaited debut.

In the end, 3BB coach Thanakit Inleang decided to just sit out Valdez.

Valdez, however, should be ready in their next game.

Peter Cayco, acting Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas, Inc. president, took the initiative in helping facilitate the processing of Valdez's ITC.

Valdez will make history as the first Filipino to ever play in Thailand as an import.

Aspiring players back in the country are hoping Valdez succeeds in Thailand that would pave the way for more Filipinas to also make it in that big stage.

In a few days though, Valdez hopes she could finally get to see some action.
