World Slasher finals on at Big Dome

MANILA, Philippines - Ayong Lorenzo of EDL Group of Companies, Indonesian Soan Sogianto and Carlos Martinez of Texas lead the championship hopefuls figuring in the four-day final round of the 2017 World Slasher Cup Invitational Nine-Cock Derby starting today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Ricky Reyes, Butch Cambra, Jun Bacolod, Rex Bernardez, Boyet Legazpi, Paolo Malvar and Boy Marzo are included in the list fighting for the coveted crown in this derby acknowledged as the Olympics of cockfighting.

Only a handful are expected to post perfect five points after the semis round, paving the way for four pointers to catch up, according to WSC media director Manny Berbano.

As of yesterday, those with perfect five points were Max Benedicto of Ilocos Sur and Amante Capuchino of Bataan while Rep. Kulit Alcala, Joey Melendres of Australia, Mayor Dennis Panganiban and NEJ Sebastian had 4.5 points each.

Now on its 60th year, the WSC remains as the toughest competition among local and international cockers.
