MGC-NLCA regains PCYAA lead

MANILA, Philippines – Makati Gospel Church-New Life Christian Academy bounced back from a stinging loss the last time out with a 90-17 rout of hapless Saint Peter the Apostle School in the boys juniors division basketball tournament of the fourth Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association at the Uno High School gym over the weekend.

Linerwin-Frank Magpayo scored 10 points to lead four others in double figures as the New Lifers, who lost to defending champion Saint Jude Catholic School, 47-53, picked up their third win in four games to grab the solo lead in the eight-school tournament supported by Spalding, Pro Line, Octoboy and Summit Water.

Meanwhile, Jubilee Christian Academy improved its record to 2-1 after a come-from-behind 67-63 win over Philippine Cultural College.

The loss was the second straight for PCC, which slipped to 3-2.
