World Slasher to unfold with new format

MANILA, Philippines - The World Slasher Cup Invitational 9-cock derby gets going Monday with a new format spicing up the event which drew a huge field at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

More than 300 entries will see action in the event backed by  Excellence Poultry and Livestock Specialists,Thunderbird, B-Meg and Petron with Pit Games Media Inc. as media partner.

The 2-cock eliminations will be held on Jan. 23, 24 and 25 followed by 3-cock semifinals on Jan. 26, 27 and 28. Participants with 3, 3.5 and 4 points will clash in the 4-cock finals on Jan. 29, 30 and 31.

The grand finals, another 4-cocker, will be held on Feb. 1 among entries with 4.5 and 5 points.

The event will features the country’s cockfight heavyweights and well-known breeders and cockers from the US, Mexico, Kuwait, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Guam, Saipan and Vietnam. 

The foreign contingent includes Darrel Mack of Texas, and Hall of Famers Mike Formosa of Hawaii and Ray Alexander of Texas.
