Pacers’ star Paul George gets signature shoe
MANILA, Philippines – The Indiana Pacers' Paul George now has his first signature sneaker.
The 26-year-old George joins superstars LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, in the elite cast of National Basketball Association atheletes to get a signature shoe deal with sporting apparel behemoth Nike.
Dubbed as the "PG1," the shoe is a lightweight, low-cut sneaker born from collaboration between George and designer Tony Hardman.
The shoe features a distinctive forefoot strap, which also appears in the new LeBron 14. It uses flywire cable loops providing a dynamic and contained feel. A forefoot Zoom Air unit delivers low to the ground, responsive cushioning to go with a multidirectional scale-inspired blade traction that finishes the shoe at the bottom to provide improved grip.
The shoe design also touts' George fascination on video games and fishing.
George, after figuring in a freak injury in April 2014, has had a resurgent career. The Pacers forward has embraced his star role in Indiana and returned to his All-Star form, along with winning a gold medal in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The 2013 NBA Most Improved Player is the 21st basketball player in Nike's 44-year history to receive a footwear deal.
The PG1's availability and price will be announced in a later date.
