MANILA, Philippines — It's not everyday that the Philippine Basketball Association mounts its games at The Arena in San Juan.
But Wednesday night's action at the sporting venue put the "rare" into the affair when former Los Angles Lakers guard and head coach Byron Scott was spotted watching the game between the Meralco Bolts and the Phoenix Fuel Masters.
A small contingent of reporters tried to approach Scott for an interview shortly after the Bolts-Fuel Masters game, but he politely declined.
The 6-foot-3 shooting guard, who was a member of the fabled "Showtime Lakers" of the 1980s, was accompanied by his Filipina girlfriend, Cecilia Gutierrez, and Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas' Al Panililo.

Scott, who also coached the Cleveland Cavaliers before helming the Lakers in 2014 through 2016, said he was in town for vacation.
The PBA's social media team, though, was able to catch the him and interview him for a brief moment. Check out his insights on Philippine basketball and its level of play:
