Baby Falcons rip DLS-Z for No. 5
MANILA, Philippines – Adamson U trounced De La Salle-Zobel, 78-53, to stretch its run to five games in the UAAP Season 79 juniors basketball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Center over the weekend.
Newcomer Encho Serrano sizzled with 22 points while Jason Celis and Gerry Abadiano added 15 and 10 markers, respectively, as the Baby Falcons stayed on the top of the eight-team field.
Defending champion National University toppled University of Santo Tomas, 73-64, while Far Eastern University-Diliman overpowered UP Integrated School, 84-68, to remain tied at second with 4-1 cards.
John Lloyd Clemente had 23 points and eight rebounds while Winderlich Coyoca added 19 points.
Daniel Celzo and Xyrus Torres combined for 34 points for the Baby Tamaraws, who bucked a poor start to prevail.
In the other juniors match, Jason Credo and Dave Ildefonso had 19 and 13 points, respectively, while SJ Belangel had a double-double effort of 10 points and 12 rebounds as Ateneo drubbed University of the East, 89-62.
The Blue Eaglets tied the Junior Maroons in fourth spot at 2-3. The Junior Archers fell to 1-4 in a tie with the Tiger Cubs and the Junior Warriors.
