MANILA, Philippines - Xavier School overpowered Don Bosco Makati, 88-67, to capture the 2016 Private Schools Athletic Development Association (PRADA) Midgets crown in a one-game faceoff at San Beda College gym recently.
The 21-point romp completed Xavier’s sweep of the tournament after the Stallions won all their games in the elims to gain the outright semifinal berth against Marist School.
“Preparation is the key, and I would like to commend the boys for their effort, especially on defense,” said coach John Sy.
Xavier imposed its will early, scoring 17 unanswered points behind Ryley Tuason, John Durante and Marcus Van Straten.
Aside from their torrid shooting, Xavier forced Don Bosco to commit a number of turnovers with its defensive pressure.
Tuason proved almost unstoppable, scoring 27 points with Van Straten and Keith Wongchuking combining for 21 markers.
