Tabuena six shots behind but trails Spieth by one

MANILA, Philippines – Miguel Tabuena stood six shots off the pace after 23 holes as play was suspended due to lightning in the second round of the $1-million SMBC Singapore Open Friday at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore.

Tabuena, who opened with a hot two-under-par 69, was among a group of golfers who had just started their rounds when lightning struck. They were to resume Round 2 at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

The young Filipino played only five holes, birdying the No. 4 against pars on 1, 2, 3 and 5 to bring his tally to three-under par for joint 11th.

He was one adrift of world No. 1 Jordan Spieth, who was at four-under overall after submitting pars in seven holes for the day.

Younghan Song of Korea vaulted into the top of the leaderboard after firing an eagle-aided eight-under 63 for a 36-hole aggregate of nine-under 133.

Song seized a two-shot margin against Japanese Shintaro Kobayashi, who shot a second-round 69, and compatriot Byeonghun An, who was also at seven-under after a three-under card through seven holes.

Juvic Pagunsan was in joint 21st after turning in a second-straight 70 while Angelo Que shared 55th with his 71-72 effort.
