Bakers rip Bulldogs apart; Wangs pull thru

MANILA, Philippines – CafeFrance-CEU unleashed its full might in the middle quarters and turned what had appeared to be a close game into a runaway victory over BDO-National U, 110-86, to gain a share of the lead in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City yesterday.
The Bakers outscored the Bulldogs, 27-12, in the second quarter to break off a tight 21-all count after 10 minutes then poured it all out in the third that saw them drill in 34 points against their rivals’ 21 to pull away.
Wangs Basketball rallied from 18 points down and pulled off a 97-88 victory over Mindanao in the other game.
Gwyne Capacio scored 17 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and extension as the Couriers saved their best for last after trailing majority of the way.
James Mangahas backed him up with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Francis Munsayac finished with 17 markers and eight assists for Wangs.
Earlier, Paul Zamar knocked in 12 of his topscoring 22 points in the first half while Rodrigue Ebondo scattered 11 of his 19 markers in the second period as the Bakers rolled to their second straight win for a share of the early lead with the Caida Tile Masters and the UP QRS/Jam Liner Maroons.
Carl Bryan Cruz had 15 points, John Carlo Casino scored 12 markers and Aaron Jeruta added 11 points for the Bakers.
Matt Salem added 17 points for the Bulldogs, who played without Alfred Aroga and absorbed their second straight loss.
