MANILA, Philippines – Wesley So is starting to build a reputation as a drawing Grandmaster.

So drew yet again, this time against Russian Evgeny Tomashevski in 40 moves of the English Opening to remain in a logjam for third place after 10 rounds in the Tata Steel Chess Masters in Wijk aan Zee, The Netherlands Wednesday night.

It was the fourth-seeded So's ninth straight draw since he brought down Dutch GM Anish Giri in the opening round.

The standoff hiked So's total to 5.5 points, 1.5 points behind solo leader GM Magnus Carlsen of Norway and a full point off American GM Fabiano Caruana of the US.

Carlsen halved the point with Giri in 34 moves of a Queen's Gambit Declined while Caruana, who will play with So in the World Chess Olympiad for the United States this year, smashed Chinese GM Wei Yi in 32 moves of a Ruy Lopez.

So will face Ukrainian GM Pavel Eljanov in tonight's 11th round.

So and Eljanov share No. 3 with Giri and Chinese GM Ding Liren with 5.5 points apiece.
