Duathlon spices up Batangas Earth and Fire festival

MANILA, Philippines – A huge field is expected when the Batangas Earth and Fire Festival marks its return with a duathlon competition on Saturday at the lakeshore of Brgy. Poblacion, Balete, Batangas.

The running and cycling event is highly-anticipated by athletes and tourists with the festival also to feature activities that will promote environmental awareness and tourism in Batangas.

The 5k-20k-3k run and bike relay will take participants to a rugged trail situated in the scenic roads of Balete.

Cyclists, runners, extreme sports enthusiasts, first-time competitors, and duathlon athletes, mountain bikers are welcome to join the event. Participants can compete as a solo competitor or as a team of two. The team can be composed of male-female or mixed, with ages ranging from 16 to 40 and above.

Registration fee for solo participants is P800 while fee for the team competition is pegged at P1,300.

Other activities lined up for the Batangas Earth and Fire festival are aqua sports activities and boat rides in the morning, and an after-party, fire dancing, and a fireworks display in the afternoon.

The event is backed by Lima Park Hotel (located in Malvar-Lipa) and First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) and held in partnership with the local government administration of Balete, Batangas.
