Griffins, Wildcats trip UCAA foes
MANILA, Philippines – Colegio de San Lorenzo and National College of Business and Arts kept their winning runs, beating PATTS College of Aeronautics, 65-60, and Philippine Nautical and Technological College, 75-49, respectively, in the eighth Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA) basketball tournament at the Central Colleges of the Philippines gym in Sta. Mesa, Manila recently.
Rustom Borja and Dirk Montes took charge in the clutch as the CDSL Griffins repulsed the PATTS Sea Horses while the NCBA Wildcats dominated the PNTC side from start to finish to win pulling away.
It was the Griffins’ fifth straight win as they moved two wins away from clinching an outright semifinals berth.
The Wildcats, behind Damian Lasco and Alec Quiroz with 17 points, bounced back from a 76-81 loss to the Griffins last Wednesday to likewise stayed in contention for a second automatic Final Four slot with a 3-2 card.
The Sea Horses fell to second with a 4-1 record.
