MANILA, Philippines - Glen Vasquez and guest partner Gerald Katigbak pooled 131 points for the overall low net plum while Allan Alegre and Jose Arnel Agustin combined for 100 to capture the low gross trophy in the eighth Summit Point Invitational member-guest tournament at the Summit Point Golf and Country Club in Lipa, Batangas recently.
Vasquez and Katigbak combined for 45 points in the best-ball format on the first day then had 45 and 41, respectively, in the aggregate play used on the second day to top the two-day tourney which had Sabah Tourism Board and Kiga Inc as corporate sponsors and Lemans, Summit Point Realty and Development Corp., Sta Lucia Realty and Development. Inc. and Auster catering and event planning as major sponsors.
The other winners in the tournament which drew a maximum field of 224 players were Edsel Opulencia-Narciso Dimapilis (Division 1), Boy Reyes-Ramon Villareal (Division 2), Sonny Ricablanca-Roberto Alvarez (Division 3) and Desire Salvador-Zeny Pua (ladies).
Pua was also the grand raffle prize winner of the Kota Kinabalu golf adventure in Malaysia. The event’s biggest winner, however, was Vic Marquez who made a hole-in-one and won a package of prizes that included P100,000 cash, Vespa Scooter and Yamaha Golf Cart totalling almost half a million pesos.
Minor sponsors were UNAHCO Abbaserv, Inc., Alveo Land, MJ Carr, OSA Industries Philippines, Bauan Machine Shop Inc., Edsel Opulencia and Joey Del Rosario while Emperador deluxe, Wendenberg intr.corp. Cafe Arabelle, Megafiber, Dunlop, Tagaytay Highlands, City of Dreams and Crimson supported the event as merchandise sponsors.
Peugeot Lipa, Mizuno, Texas Eagle, The Turf Company, Yamaha golf cars/Kart Plaza, Autohub Group, Republic Surety and Insurance and MAA/NCIA were hole-in-one sponsors.
