MANILA, Philippines – Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix champion Foton braces for a busy 2016 season, including a successful defense of its crown and a stint in the tough Asian Volleyball Confederation Club Championship set in Manila in September.
“This is not just about Foton as we will carry the country’s name in the AVCCC tilt. This early, I have already requested help from the other teams to lend us some players to reinforce the team,” said Foton team manager Alvin Lu.
He added that some teams have already agreed to backstop the team with Lu also stressing the need to beef up the squad with tall players.
Dindin Santiago-Manabat is on top of the list but the national team mainstay may not be able to suit up for the team since she is reportedly infanticipating.
He also said Foton’s two imports, MVP Lindsay Stalzer and Katie Messing, have yet to finalize their plans for 2016.
The team will also hold a series of try-outs early next year to lure as many players as possible.
