Perpetual paces Martin Cup, rips PCCr
MANILA, Philippines – University of Perpetual Help crushed Philippine College of Criminology, 82-66, to notch its second straight win while Philippine Merchant Marine School upended Far Eastern U, 70-68, in the 12th Fr. Martin Cup Collegiate Open basketball tournament at the FEU gym in Morayta last Sunday.
AJ Coronel and Daryl Singontiko combined for 35 points as the Altas, with Cameroonian Nick Omorogbe calling the shots, dominated their PCCr rivals from start to finish to seize the solo lead in Group B.
Rocky Antonares fired 15 points and the PMMS Mariners clamped on defense in the last 48 seconds to surprise the Tams and post their first win in Group A.
Antonares scored on a drive in the closing seconds then the Mariners forced the Tams to four turnovers with their resolute defense to clinch the victory.
Richard Escoto knocked down 14 points for FEU, which also bowed to Manuel L. Quezon University, 64-67.
