MANILA, Philippines – Nonito Donaire Jr. scored a unanimous decision victory over Cesar Juarez in an action-filled bout to win the vacant WBO super bantamweight championship on Saturday at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Donaire won with scores of 116-110 (twice) and 117-109 to become world champion again.
Juarez (17-4, with 13 KOs) appeared to be a tough nut to crack, giving Donaire a run for his money for the latter half of the fight.
Donaire improved to 36-3, with 23 KOs.
