MANILA, Philippines - Amir Khan again failed to land a megabuck fight, this time against Manny Pacquiao.
A report by veteran boxing writer Gareth Davis of The Telegraph claimed that Khan will instead go for a fight with IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook.
“Khan is not getting the Pacquiao fight. We are talking of a summer fight between Kell and Amir and I’m very hopeful of getting the fight signed,” Khan’s promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sports told Davis.
This marks the second time a big fight eluded Khan, having been ignored before by Floyd Mayweather Jr.
With Khan out of the Pacquiao sweepstakes, Timothy Bradley and Terence Crawford are the two fighters staying in the hunt for a date with the Filipino icon on April 9 next year.
Reports said that Bradley – whom Pacquiao fought twice before – is the frontrunner to land the bout. – Dino Maragay/Contributor
