Romeo named FIBA 3x3 ‘most spectacular player’

DOHA – The Philippines Terrence Romeo was named the most spectacular player by the fans following a social media vote held on all FIBA 3x3 social media accounts during the FIBA Awards night last Thursday.

 The best 3x3 basketball players, organizers and personalities were given citations at the inaugural edition of the FIBA 3x3 Awards, presented by the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) in Doha, Qatar.

Romeo represented the Philippines together  with K.G. Canaleta, Rey Guevarra and Aldrech Ramos but didn’t advance to the World 3x3 final.

Meanwhile, Dusan Domovic Bulut (Serbia) received the World’s top player award after leading the FIBA 3x3 Individual World Ranking at the end of the season.

The list of decorated players also included Patricia Vicente (Andorra, world’s top player – women), Nina Aho (Hungary, world’s No. 1 - U18 – women) and Nedim Muslic (Qatar, No. 1 player – U18 – men).

In the organizers’ categories, the Brazil Basketball Federation (CBB) won the Best Performing Federation award after leading the FIBA 3x3 Federation Ranking at the end of the season, while the Netherlands Basketball Federation (NBB) received the award for the Most Active Federation after organizing more than 3,000 games involving over 4,000 players in 2015.

The Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) took home the Best CSR Project award for their social activities around 3x3. Hungarian private promoter B33 received the Most Valuable Promoter award for attracting over 5,000 players to its 3x3 tournaments over the year.

QBF president HE Sheik Saoud Bin Abdulrahaman Al-Thani was presented the Outstanding Contribution award. Under his leadership, Qatar became the host of the FIBA 3x3 All Stars, established a nationwide 3x3 program and built a team, that won the 2014 FIBA 3x3 World Championships.

Action resumed yesterday in Doha, Qatar with the third edition of the FIBA 3x3 All Stars, the season-ending event for 3x3 basketball which brings together the best teams from the FIBA 3x3 Individual Ranking from all over the world.

The awardees are:

World’s #1 Player

• Men: Dusan Domovic Bulut (Serbia)

• Women: Patricia Vicente (Andorra)

• U18 Men: Nedim Muslic (Qatar)

• U18 Women: Nina Aho (Hungary)

Most Spectacular Player: Terrence Romeo (Philippines)

Best Performing Federation: Brazil Basketball Federation (CBB)

Most Active Federation: Netherlands Basketball Federation (NBB)

Most Valuable Promoter: B33 (Hungary)

Best CSR Project: Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF)

Outstanding Contribution: HE Sheik Saoud Bin Abdulrahaman Al-Thani (Qatar)
