MANILA, Philippines - UAAP finalists UST and FEU have clinched berths in the Elite Eight stage of the 2015 National Collegiate Championship as they join NCAA champion Letran, NCAA runner-up San Beda and CESAFI-Cebu champion University of San Carlos.
Three remaining seats in the Elite Eight are reserved for one qualifier from Visayas-Mindanao and two qualifiers from Luzon-Metro Manila Qualifying Games. The Vis-Min Qualifying games are set Dec. 8-10 in Ormoc City while the Luzon-Metro Manila games will be held on Dec. 9-13 at the TIP Gym, Manila and at FAITH Tanauan, Batangas.
Coach Joe Lipa, PCCL executive director, said the Luzon-Metro Manila games will be covered live by ABS-CBN Sports and Action channel and televised nationwide.
Meanwhile, vying in the Luzon-Metro Manila Qualifying Games are UAAP’s National U Bulldogs, NCAA’s Mapua Cardinals and JRU Heavy Bombers; St. Claire College of NAASCU, PATTS from ISAA; TIP from NBL; Olivarez College, South Luzon-Bicol champion and champion of the ongoing North-Central Luzon regional games.
The National Collegiate Championship (NCC) is an annual multi-level nationwide competition to determine the one and only national collegiate champion for the year. The tournament is organized and managed by Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) that brings together collegiate champions all over the country to compete for possession of the M. V. Pangilinan Perpetual Trophy Sculpture, “Abutin Ang Tagumpay”, symbol of collegiate basketball supremacy. San Beda College Red Lions is the current holder of the sculpture after winning last year’s championship.
